Week One: Organize your Mind

First of all Happy New Year! Hopefully this will be a great year for all of us!

This weeks chapter talks about:
~Get enough sleep- I think I do ok in this dept considering I am pregnant and have a little one
~Starting your day by jotting down a quick to do list- definetly need to work on this
~Starting a journal (this is what this blog is)
~Limit the amount amount of tv you watch- not to big of a problem most days
~Schedule a 2 minute break a couple times a day- need to work on this
~Practice meditating- hmmm never done that before
~Make time for exercise- my excuse is that I am so tired from just keeping up with everything and being pregnant that I don't have the energy. However I am going to try (:
~Schedule ME time (I do this by taking a jacuzzi bath after the little one has went to bed and reading a magazine)
~Eliminate energy drainers, this includes clutter (which is what I will be working on every day this year) unhealthy relationships (I have been slowly backing away from some unhealthy friendships over the last few months)
~Take CONTROL over your time- I need to set doable goals daily

While I will be making a conscious effort to work on all these areas all week. I want to share what I did yesterday. Just like I promised myself, I took a picture of all the rooms in my house, without tidying up first. Yikes, it really does look bad. I will share these pictures as we go. Please don't judge me! We will start with the office area first.

This is a corner in my loft overlooking my kitchen. I have a nice bookshelf there, but then I stuck some plants there that I didn't really know what else to do with. Then there is a box of pictures that I need to take to the basement now that it is mostly done. The lamp also just got dumped here for lack of a more well thought out place.

Here is a really nice cabinet I bought that has canvas totes. I use this not only as storage but also a room divider so that the spare bed in the loft is not visible to the downstairs. As you can see I have managed to stuff a bunch of stuff on top of the cabinet as well. We have not built permanent railing yet so we have a child fence "balcony railing."

Here is the actual office part of this room. We have a small desk with minimal storage. I have to put everything above the height that a 18 month old can reach. The table next to the desk is just plain loaded with crap. I have no excuses I just need to buckle down and figure out a better system. I stacked two filing cabinets on top of each other so that the little man can't reach the printer on top. I think it looks tacky and I would love to get nice wooden filing chests with doors that lock. But for now that is not in the budget and I need to deal with what I have. I also wish I could watch the little man as I work instead of having to turn around constantly to check on him.

I would like to encourage anyone that may be reading this to post comments or ideas.

For right now I am going to ponder how to meditate!
